Newton Festival of the Arts Story Slam @ the Newton Free Library: Out of the Blue @ Newton Free Library

If you’ve never been to a “story slam”, you will love it! Anyone who attends can (but is not required to) throw their name in a hat to tell a story. Featured guests will include Pastor Alicia Johnson (Myrtle Baptist Church) Tom Lyons, (Owner New England Mobile Book Fair), Tova Mirvis (Novelist) and Linda Plaut (Director of the Mayor’s Office on Cultural Affairs).

Here’s how it works: Your story should be 5 minutes at most, be your own real life experience and relate to the theme Out of the Blue. It can be funny, sad or poignant. Get up and tell it, no reading, no notes, no props. NOTE: Please refrain from presenting material that is obscene, offensive or otherwise inappropriate for the library environment. Join us for this lively event!
