Temple Shalom hosts the showing of the movie “Raise the Roof” as part of the Newton Festival of the Arts on Monday, April 3 at 7:00. The award-winning movie chronicles the efforts of more than 300 people from 16 countries to build a replica of an ornate cupola ceiling of the Gwozdziec synagogue in Poland. All the 18th century wooden synagogues were destroyed by the Nazis.
For $10, you’ll see the movie, hear from Rick and Laura Brown, the MassArt professors who organized this decade-long undertaking, and learn from a college student who participated in the project. This event, co-sponsored with The National Center for Jewish Film, will end with a reception.
