The McMullen Museum invites children ages five to twelve to explore its current exhibition “Nature’s Mirror” and to make their own botanical journals. Children and chaperones will begin with a tour through the galleries of “Nature’s Mirror”, featuring over 120 landscape paintings, drawings, and prints, to highlight how artists captured the world around them on paper and canvas. Following the tour, children will construct and decorate their own botanical journals before heading outdoors to identify different species of trees. In the spirit of many Belgian artists who enjoyed hiking and painting in the open air, we will be looking at the shape, bark, and leaves of numerous trees. Children can take notes, do tree rubbings, draw observations, and collect specimens to add to their journals.

Because seats are limited, the Museum requests that all children are registered prior to the event at http://bit.ly/2juF47g.
