Clara Wieck Schumann was born 200 years ago on September 13, 1819, and didn’t take long to become one of the greats of her era. Newton Baroque will celebrate her 200th birthday with concerts in Newton and Boston featuring both her own brilliant works as well as music written for her by her husband Robert Schumann, and dear friend Johannes Brahms. Sopano, Nicole Estima and pianist, Andrus Madsen will team up to offer Lieder by Clara Schumann taking advantage of the beautiful 19th Century pianos at Second Church in Newton, and at First Church in Boston. Robert August will play fugues by Clara on the organ as well as organ works written for her by Robert, and Johannes Brahms.
