Youth Pro Musica “This Shining Night” Choral Concert @ Eliot Church of Newton

Choral works performed by our three ensembles include Barber’s “Sure on
this Shining Night” and works by Mozart, Handel, Schubert, Willcocks,
and Parker.  Also on the program, Faur’s “Messe basse” and Chilcott’s
“A Little Jazz Mass” with a trio from Berklee College of Music.

Our artistic director Robert Barney has been with us for nine seasons;  Brian Hagar-McKee is the training chorus director; Yvonne Gobis is our outstanding accompanist.  This year marks Youth pro Musica’s 49th season; we hope you’ll join us to celebrate now and in our 50th year!

Artists include Daniel Stepner and Julie Leven, baroque violins; Laura Jeppesen, viola da gamba; Catherine Liddell, theorbo; Michael Sponseller, harpsichord; Kristen Watson, soprano; Deborah Rentz Moore, mezzo-soprano; Jason McStoots, tenor; David McFerrin; baritone.

Now in in its 47th season, Aston Magna is the nation’s longest-running summer festival of music performed on period instruments. The 2019 season includes the finest artists who are specialists in historical performance. The music of Bach, Pachelbel, Mozart, Castello, Purcell, Beethoven, Schubert, and others drive a dynamic program.
