Join Newton’s own Beryl Gilfix for a lecture that will explore the Jewish congregation from the Adams Street Shul and the multi-ethnic community of Newton’s immigrant neighborhood in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Learn about the Irish, French-Canadians, Italians and Jews who lived, studied, worked and were Americanized side by side. Ms.Gilfix is the granddaughter of the founder of the Adams Street Shul. She has served the congregation for over thirty years in various capacities, including president, secretary and chief fundraiser. A book sale will follow.  This program is cosponsored by Historic Newton.
